Anna Halverson
Anna is a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa where she is studying Speech-Language Pathology. She hopes to have a career in the schools following graduation. With a passion for working with kids, Anna was so thrilled to work on this project and to be able to share it with the world!
Katie Youngblut
Katie is a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa where she is studying Speech-Language Pathology. She hopes to work as a speech-language pathologist in a pediatric clinic. Katie enjoys working with children and was excited to be a part of the preschool drama program!
Jennifer Garrett Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Dr. Garrett is an Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders and also serves as a co-director of the Center for Disability Studies in Literacy, Language and Learning at University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Garrett received her doctoral degree at University of Cincinnati in 2007, prior to which she worked as a school speech-language pathologist. Dr. Garrett has expertise in school-aged literacy and language disorders, genetics/syndromes
and counseling skills.
Gretta Berghammer
Gretta Berghammer teaches coursework in drama education and theatre for youth at the University of Northern Iowa. In addition, she serves as the Artistic Director for the Sturgis Youth Theatre, a community based theatre providing class and production related experiences for students ages 4-16.
In 2010 she founded the Spectrum Theatre program for kids on and off the Autism Spectrum. While open to all young people ages 6 and older, it is specifically designed to provide drama experiences that best support the development of pretend play, social interaction and non-verbal communication. She recently completed a year-long project in area schools funded by Autism Speaks which is focused on the use of drama to develop key social skills in youth on the autism spectrum and to develop inclusive in classroom drama programs for all students. The project is currently being piloted in are pre-schools.
